| Hot process soap making is what I consider to be the true "Soap that Grandma used to make". When you see pictures of the pioneers standing over a big kettle boiling soap, that is hot process soap making. Although today, you don't need the open fire pit with a big bubbling cauldron..lol.. unless this is what you prefer to use!! Hot process soap making is similar to cold process except that you put everything in one pot and heat it until it goes through different stages and finally reaches soaponification. Which means is has turned into soap! I have never made soap using this method, but I have read about it, and from what I understand this method is a lot more sticky than cold process, and it doesn't come out of molds easily. It can however be used a lot sooner than the cold process method which needs to cure for a minimum of 4 weeks. I am adding a couple links to the bottom of this page, these sites can better inform you on this method of soap making!! Have fun!!! Happy Soap making!! |
